A city full of life

Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece, is a multicultural city, full of life. If you’re a theatre fan, you can choose from the various theatre performances that are staged or attend one of the shows presented at the City’s Open Theatre 2024 event throughout the spring. If you are a music lover, the Central Macedonia Region Culture Center is organising this year, for the first time, a 4-day music festival, #SKGLIVE! MUSIC FEST – “We bring the creation to life”, April 15-18, at the historic site of Olympion, in the center of Thessaloniki. Musical ensembles with different repertoires will participate, each with a fresh sound and inspiration. Of course you can find other concerts that are constantly hosted in the city.

If you find yourself in Thessaloniki and you love culture and history, you can visit some of the museums and exhibitions that take place in the city. If you want to learn about the history of the city and of Greece in general, it is worth visiting one of the museums such as the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, the Museum of Byzantine Culture or the Museum of Folk Art and Tradition. If you still prefer contemporary and modern art, an ideal choice is one of the MOMus museums (Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum of Photography) which host many interesting exhibitions.

 

Of course, Thessaloniki is also famous for its nightlife. It is impossible not to visit Ladadika, the most famous area for night entertainment with bars, clubs and taverns. The night in Ladadika never ends with many shops being full of people until dawn. You can also visit various traditional taverns and bars in the most picturesque area, the Upper Town, with a wonderful panoramic view.
